Our approach is to create a positive and fun environment that caters for all ages and abilities.

All children will learn and develop at different rates and ages. We provide children with friendly and supportive technical coaching to improve their close control, their 1v1 strategies and their passing and receiving skills.

We help them develop the confidence to learn and think for themselves in a pressure free environment. We want them to be able to express themselves when they play!

We aim to help young players make the most of their talents, to develop their confidence and to give them the technical skills they need to enjoy the game. We believe this can be done in a fun but structured way. All coaches are: uniformed, first aid trained, DBS/ CRB checked and FA safe guarded. All are fully insured under ‘Josh Evans Ltd’.

We work closely with a number of schools to provide a structured session plan for the whole year working across a different sport every term. Football, tag rugby, hockey, handball, gym, athletics, cricket and rounders.

We take classes off the teachers’ hands to allow them to plan and prepare their own session plans for the class room. Our qualified coaches cater for all abilities to get the best out of all children during their PE lessons.

We are also very happy to provide schools with extra-curricular classes at the beginning or end of the day, depending on your preferences and the availability of coaches.

We sincerely believe that all children will become better players with excellent coaching – and the majority of our teaching is to classes of mixed talent. But there are children who have high levels of natural ability allied to a determination to improve and who in fairness must be given an opportunity to work to their potential. In the past we have tried to refer these children to the professional teams’ academies but there is often a huge gulf in the standard to which they have been coached and the academies they join.

We decided therefore in partnership with Downsend School to found our own Academy to bridge that gap. Held on Friday evenings at Downsend School the Josh Evans Downsend Academy is an invitation-only club for players who have been personally coached by Josh. The Academy has small groups of players at U7,U8 & U9 age groups only.

The Academy does not play in any competitive leagues. Instead the focus is on coaching, with occasional friendlies arranged against other Academies to give the players a chance to benchmark their development.

The Academy was founded in October 2013 but already players have moved on to Premiership Academies.
