The history of the Josh Evans Soccer School, began with a young man who had the vision to combine a passion for sport with a commitment to provide children with the highest standards of coaching. Founded in 2010 in Surrey by an enthusiastic and spirited 18-year-old, Josh Evans, the Josh Evans Soccer School has grown from strength to strength.
Today, have a valuable standing in the communities in which we serve, providing coaching excellence to children with a broad range of soccer skills, with every child sharing the common goal of improving his or her soccer performance. Josh and the teams dynamic dedication to delivering on the school’s goals now extends to include three permanent football coaches, each specialising in supporting and cultivating children aged 2-12 who want to learn how to play and enjoy the national game.
We have grown rapidly and are currently coaching over 2000 children a week, as well as providing training excellence within five local schools.
We can also claim victory for delivering the biggest half-term soccer skills course in Surrey.
All our activity is supported by two development centres located in Leatherhead and Epsom. The Academy (Leatherhead) is uniquely set up to provide skills, technique and improve personal development of over 80 young footballers.
Every coach at the Academy has qualified with a UEFA B licence and can demonstrate a high calibre of coaching.
12 of the boys have now signed up with professional academies. Our Academy has also enabled a further 16 young footballers to attend trials with professional clubs.
The Academy offers its players the opportunity to play against top-quality opponents. Recently, we have competed against Bristol City, AFC Wimbledon, Reading and Crystal Palace, as well as participating in many local and regional tournaments. We encourage our future footballers to improve their abilities, gain confidence and provide direction for aspiring professional players through playing competitively on a regular basis and in a structured environment.
Support is continuously delivered via a network of coaching professionals that are passionate about the sport and keen to transfer their knowledge, skills and love for the sport to every child that walks on our pitch.
Our approach is to create a positive and fun environment that caters for all ages and abilities.
All children will learn and develop at different rates and ages. We provide children with friendly and supportive technical coaching to improve their close control, their 1v1 strategies and their passing and receiving skills.
We help them develop the confidence to learn and think for themselves in a pressure free environment. We want them to be able to express themselves when they play!
MEET THE TEAM
We aim to help young players make the most of their talents, to develop their confidence and to give them the technical skills they need to enjoy the game. We believe this can be done in a fun but structured way. All coaches are: uniformed, first aid trained, DBS/ CRB checked and FA safe guarded. All are fully insured under ‘Josh Evans Ltd’.
Goalkeeping is one area of coaching that requires a particular focus. Josh Evans Soccer School has recruited its dedicated goalkeeping coach, Ian Cobbett.
Ian has coaching credentials both for outfield as well as a focus on goalkeeping.
‘For us, at the start getting 10-15 kids for a day at Ashtead Rec. was massive and now 95 is a regarded as a quiet day: This is a testament to Josh and the team’s dedication, loyalty and hard work. It’s always fun and rewarding working with the other coaches who continue to surprise with innovative ideas which always have the kids’ best interests at heart.
My role is to oversee school PPA, coaching in our academies and after school clubs. My number one passion is Goalkeeping and I strive to create an environment that brings the best out of advanced as well as amateur keepers (and even retired players like myself) and translates into feeling very much like our own personal club at times!
We always provide a welcoming and comfortable place to be, and it’s a pleasure turning up every day to continue the learning process with everyone.

‘I joined the Josh Evans Soccer School team back in Summer of 2012 at age 17. Never having coached before, immediately I knew this was the place I wanted my career to grow. The Soccer School and, especially, Josh’s philosophy in coaching, inspired and captured me instantly and I knew I wanted to become a sports coach. After 18 months of learning as much as I could, I later moved on to further my learning in a different environment with AFC Wimbledon. I have recently returned to Josh Evans Soccer School full time in September 2016, and I feel that as a team of coaches we can create the best possible environment for any child of any ability level to learn and enjoy their time with us.’

WORK WITH SCHOOLS
We work closely with a number of schools to provide a structured session plan for the academic year by covering a different sport each term. i.e. Football, tag rugby, hockey, handball, gym, athletics, cricket and rounders.
We take responsibility off the teachers and allow them to plan and prepare their own classes, whilst our qualified coaches cater for all abilities to get the best out of all children during their PE lessons.
We are also delighted that we are able to provide schools with extra-curricular classes at the beginning or end of the day.
