Our approach is to create a positive and fun environment that caters for all ages and abilities. We aim to help young players make the most of their talents, to develop their confidence and to give them the technical skills they need to enjoy the game. We believe this can be done in a fun but structured way.
Pre Academy class for u6, u7 and u8 players
Our pre academy class is for u6, u7 and u8 players to attend. We believe these years are vital for our players and their development.
We will stream groups so all players will be playing at the right level. These groups will be called academy, advanced and development.
Once the players reach U9 they will then be placed into the appropriate playing level for them at either our Technical Development Centre, Advanced Technical Development Centre or our Elite Academy.
Technical Development Centre
Josh Evans Soccer School runs a Technical Development Centre at Downsend School, Leatherhead for Years 4-7, to train and play in the ‘Josh Evans Way.’
We work on:
• Close control
• 1v1 skills
• Game craft and awareness.
Players who show above standard will be invited to our Academy.
Advanced Development Centre
This has currently been combined with our Technical Development Centre sessions.
The Academy is focused solely on individual player development. We want to bring professional coaching to children who show a desire to improve, work hard and those who show above average ability. Sessions are tailored around the Josh Evans Philosophy, to develop technically excellent footballers, that can make great decisions and react quickly and effectively to transition.
Our Elite Academies in Leatherhead & Cobham are uniquely set up to provide skills, technique and improve the personal development of over 100 young footballers. Every coach at the Academy is FA qualified and has been trained to coach the Josh Evans way. A number of boys have been signed up with professional football league academies. Our Academy has also enabled further young footballers to attend trials with professional clubs. The Academy offers its players the opportunity to play against top-quality opponents. Recently, we have competed against Bristol City, AFC Wimbledon, Reading and Crystal Palace and have participated in local and regional tournaments. We encourage our players to improve their abilities and gain confidence.
Support is continuously delivered by our team of coaches, all of whom are passionate about the sport and keen to transfer their knowledge, skills and love of the game to every child that walks on our pitches. To register & for further information about the academy email us at [email protected]
Sessions are led by a team of coaches who have vast experience in player development:
UEFA B, FA Youth Award, Futsal Level 1, ex Crystal Palace & AFC Wimbledon Head Coach
UEFA B, FA Youth Award, Futsal Level 1 and ex AFC Wimbledon Academy Head Coach
FA Level 2 coach & AFC Wimbledon Academy Head Coach
FA Level 2 coach
FA Level 2 coach
The focus of the academy is to bring professional coaching to those who show a great ability and standard to bridge the gap between grassroots and professional football. This will be done through professional sessions put on by coaches with vast experience in player development and understand the standard required to take that next step.
Each player will be given a psychology handbook at the start of the year and this will be filled in throughout their time with us. At Josh Evans Soccer School, we believe it is important to help develop individuals in all areas of life, as well as football.
This handbook will include topics surrounding social/psychological/tactical areas of football and everyday life. Helping your son/daughter be the hardest working player at every session/match.
We request players arrive 15 minutes before each session, to get warmed up and straight into the arrival activity.
U9 /U10 – 5.45-7pm

Futsal is a game of close control and tactical understanding. Players will work indoors in a tight area with a small and heavier ball with no bounce.
This will develop execution of 1v1 strategies and improve decision making that will transition extremely well into their football on the weekends
This can be beneficial for those just starting their journey in football or existing players that want to get that extra edge.

Daniel absolutely loves the technical development centre on Thursday, so much so that he turned down an academy place elsewhere in September because I said he couldn’t do that, team training, matches and your class in one week with everything else that needs to be done so he chose to do your class! He is motivated, increasing in confidence and learning super skills. You and the other coaches are fantastic role models for all the children. Over half his team attend your academy or technical development sessions and the team have come on in leaps and bounds this season. They are really gelling as a unit and have won four and lost two matches so far.
Keep up the great work!”

Ben Catling is really enjoying the training sessions on Tuesdays at Dorking – what a great facility. We can see that his ball skills are improving and he loves all the training. He plays for Bookham Colts and it’s nice to see him use his skills on the pitch and in matches as well! Josh is always so friendly and professional and is definitely an inspiration to him.
Emma C., Great Bookham
Theo is absolutely loving his Thursday sessions. He’s always really enthusiastic about going and didn’t even complain about playing in the pouring rain last week! I like the organisation of the sessions: the mix between training and the mini-matches seems to work really well and I’m hugely impressed with the ability of Josh and the other leaders to learn and correctly use all the children’s names so quickly. Theo was really pleased that everybody knew who he was the second time he attended! I think you offer amazing value for money with these sessions.
